About Deirdre Mulley

Deirdre Mulley has qualifications from UCW Aberystwyth, The University of Edinburgh, Gateshead Technical College and the Courtauld Institute of Art and held a studentship at the Tate Gallery in picture conservation. She ran the studio at The Iveagh Bequest, Kenwood, for the South Eastern Museums Service and was then instrumental in starting the conservation advisory service for the South Eastern Museums Service. The advisory service covered all aspects of collection care.

Deirdre has a variety of international experience which includes studying in Florence and leading a group of international conservators on a project in Kolkata. She has also participated in conferences and courses in several countries including Canada and the United States. Deirdre continues to go to conferences and courses to keep up to date with important advances in this complex field.

Deirdre is a member of key professional organisations including the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation and the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. She is also a PACR Accredited Conservator, a recognised standard of professional expertise in cultural heritage. This accreditation shows the conservator can demonstrate a proficient level of competence, sound judgement and an in-depth knowledge of the principles which underpin conservation practice.
